Yes, I used the envelope sent by J&G. I used an "automatic machine" in my post office. I first put the letter on the top, and the machine weighed it automatically.
Re: Here's What I Created.
I paid £1.65 (Small Packet Air) and used the same envelope the tile came in. Pretty good deal I thought. Is it still only two that have arrived so far?

Re: Here's What I Created.
I don't know if Alanna sent her piece in the package that Carol got from her.
We paid more than Findy for our postage but we added a couple of chocolate bars and asked for the package to be tracked and signed for in the vain hope it would get there quicker (we were told 3-4 days), but it's been a week already and still no word

Re: Here's What I Created.
It just arrived today Jools.
ccovey: Jana just said I got two more from Jools and Graeme.
ccovey: Sounds like someone else wrote in Tengwar cuz she can't read it.
me: that'd be Graeme
ccovey: I just hung the hanger last night and need to put up all my tiles.
ccovey: I think I have 4 plus the two that just came.
ccovey: so maybe 6 so far?
me: oh, whose do you all have?
ccovey: Inki, Janet, #2, Alanna and now Jools and Graeme.
me: nice

Re: Here's What I Created.
Tree, I sent it in the enveloppe Jools sent me but added some french perfume samples I had and a card so it cost me 2.30 €. I actually thought it was cheap, considering how much I recently paid to send two books to a friend in France. I wanted to put some choccy too but didn't had the time and was afraid it wouldn't travel well.
And yes, when the 'package' is not too thick you can send it in 'enveloppe' mode fee, and do as Eric did, with the automatic machine, it's usually cheaper. (I learned that later).
But as it was for the US, I didn't dare do it and preferred having a 'real' person in front of me. Normally they give you a paper to fill for the customs and a trace of the 'letter' in case it goes astray. (But I didn't have time to do that, so I didn't, I don't think there will be any problem though)

Re: Here's What I Created.
Wanted to send mine last week but couldn't due to my nasty tummy bug. Now that I can leave my bed I have to wait until the end of the week to get my money, so it will probably be sent by Friday I hope. A shame because the parcel/envelope was all ready right after I had finished doing my tile

Re: Here's What I Created.
The package Carol received the other day had been sent separately but it seems both arrived now. Oh adn I have a little idea why Carol says no more chocolate
Nadine, it depends - if what you send passes for a letter you can do it through the machine, but if one can tell there's something other than a letter inside, it's better to fill in the customs slip because otherwise someone (i.e. US customs) might control and stop it. And French post offices employees can be annoying about sending food to the US because their manual says no food. But as Jools will tell you packaged food is allowed. I usually find a way around that problem (Carol got a chocolate box from me - not a box of chocolates, but a box full of chocoate...)

Re: Here's What I Created.
Thanks for that Turin, do we have a tally of who's has arrived at destination?
Re: Here's What I Created.
wahoo!!
Yes Alanna, that's why I said 'depending the thickness'.
I didn't know though that you could not send food to the US. But then I never did, but it's still useful to know.
I'm glad I didn't put any chocolate into the package.

Re: Here's What I Created.
I should have done that tooFindy. But of course I had to do it the hard way and I used my oil paintings... now I have to wait two or three days until they dry and then I won't have the time, so it will most probably be next week end. Jools, you should have sent two tiles, I am already thinking about throwing it away..
I guess I can always sand it down and glue a piece f paper on it. I'll never learn

Hey, I'm not crazy, I made a post yesterday that has disapperead, it was between Graeme's and Nadine's. If someone erased it, could you tell me why?
Edit: Because I posted the link fo Carol's photo?
Oh well, here's the tally without the photo then (in order of tiles on photo):
- InKi
- Alanna
- Findy
- Janet
- #2
- Jools
-Graeme
plus
- Eric
- Nadine
- Atalante
as of today

I don't know Alanna, I don't recall seeing a post of you after the one about the 'post office' talk.
What exactly is a tally? I didn't understand your post.

Re: Here's What I Created.
It looks like just under one third of the pieces have arrived at their destination
Re: Here's What I Created.
Nadine, tally is a word used instead of "a record of..." or "a score of..." so to replace the word tally in Graeme's question it would read
"Do we have a record of who's have arrived at the destination?"
Hope that helps

I wouldn't have known it if not for the old song "Come mister tallyman tally me banana" which I had my dad explain to me back when I started learning English...

Re: Here's What I Created.
I sent mine on Friday, the lady at the post office told me it would take from 3 to 7 days. I told her there was only a small handmade decoration inside so she sent it as a letter and not as a parcel. It cost me something like 4,70 CHF. I hope it won't go to Zanzibar
